Probiotics and their role in prevention and treatment of the H. pylori infection

Most of the probiotics are lactic acid-producing bacteria which are mainly in the fermented milk products. Probiotic food products belong to the group of the functional food. Favorable results of various experimental and clinical studies with probiotics lead to the development and production of quality probiotic drugs and supplements, which contain high efficacy and safe microorganisms. Probio- tics with positive health effect for the host play an important role in prevention and treatment of the H. pylori infection. They cannot be replaced in prevention and suppression of non-desirable side effects of the antibiotic treatment, and in that way they can improve patient compliance of the anti-Hp eradication therapy.
