Prevention and treatment of chronic venous insufficiency
Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a progressive disease of the venous system of lower limbs. The term CVI implies anatomical and functional abnormality of the venous system and should be reserved for patients with more advanced chronic venous disease, including those with edema, skin changes and/or venous ulcers. We differentiate primary and secondary CVI. In this article the prevention and treatment of CVI is discussed.
