Vaccination of adults – situation and trends in Europe

Vaccination is an effective tool in the prevention of infectious diseases. Adult population is constantly exposed to diseases that are preventable by vaccination. Vaccination calendar for adults based on a rate of risk in specific age groups. Vaccination of adults are gaining prominence due to demographic changes (population aging), with changes related in health status (chronic disease, co-morbidity, reduction function of the immune system),there are some changes in the epidemiology of infectious diseases and the development of new vaccines designed for the adult population. The system of vaccination and immunization registry is not uniform in Europe.
