NOVEL INSULINS – ANALOGS IN TYPE 2 DM TREATMENT
Insulin analoges represent principle achievement for treatment with insulin in patients with diabetes mellitus. Insulin analogs were developed by using targeted processing of human insulin molecule with aim to improve pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of insulin, after the subcutaneous application. The main advantage is considered lower risk of hypoglycemia, simpler titration of dosage, more physiological pharmacodynamic profile and lower risk of weight gain. These advantages make analoges preferable at initiation of insulin therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes. Analogs enable safe achievement of target values of glycemic control in larger proportion of patients than with human insulins.
