POSSIBILITIES OF INHALATION TREATMENT IN RESPIRATORY DISEASES

The current inhalation systems, which are used in the treatment of acute and chronic respiratory diseases, are presented in this summary work. Inhalation drug adminitration is world preferred, drug is delivered directly into tracheobronchial tree. It has rapid onset of action, maximum efficiency and possibility of using lower therapeutic dose. Nowadays the most often used are meter-dose aerosol systems, which operate with pressurized air, meter-dose aerosol systems activated by breath, dry-powder inhalers and nebulizers. Keystone of succesful inhalation treatment is correctly prescribed medication which is administered by optimal inhalation technique suitable for patient. The future of obstructive disease treatment is not only in discovering of new molecules but also in development of new more perfect inhalation systems.
