The role of diet therapy in complex treatment of dyslipoproteinemias
Diet therapy of dyslipoproteinaemias is mandatory part of treatment schedule. The education of patient in suitable „food groups“ is the main practical approach in treatment of hypercholesterolemia and hypertriacylglycerolaemia or mixed dyslipoproteinaemia. Plant sterols and stanols are effective for LDL level reduction. The benefit of supplements and functional foods on lipid management is uncertain.
