MAGNESIUM AND ITS IMPORTANCE FOR THE CLINICAL PRACTISE

Magnesium is the frequent electrolyte which is involved in various cellular processes and is necessary for live. Magnesium deficiency is usually associated with cardiovascular diseases, including arterial hypertension, arrhythmias and dyslipidemias. Hypomagnesemia is frequently present in patients with diabetes mellitus type II and various electrolyte disturbances . Hypermagnesemia is predominantly associated with dehydration and often occurs in patients with renal insufficiency and cellular necrosis. In this article authors discussed physiological functions and magnesium metabolism such as etiology and treatment of hypomagnesemia and hypermagnesemia.
