TREATMENT OF PATIENT WITH CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE

The author presents a view on pharmacotherapy of congestive heart failure patients according to the evidence based medicine. Taking into account the recent Treatment guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology. It covers ACE inhibitors, diuretics (symptomatic treatment), betablockers (one of the most important components of the treatment), antialdosterone drugs (also widely used) and sartans. Special empahsis is on older patients (> 65 years), with the same treatment guidelines and recommendations. Finally it focuses on impementing the guidelines into the routine clinical practice.
