INFECTION OF THE LOWER URINARY TRACT
Urinary tract infections (UTI) are one of the commonest conditions seen in general practice, they are among the most common of all bacterial infections and about 3 % of consultations are for related symptoms of infections of the urinary tract.To the infections of the lower urinary tract belongs inflammatory diseases of the urinary blader, of uretra, of prostate, of epididymis and testis. UTI occure in all class of age, most of all in new-borns and people at the age over 65 years. Because of the high incidence of UTI, the costs associated with treatment and maintainance of patients with urinary tract infections are very high and in the USA they exceed the amount of 1,6 bilion US$. This article attempts to understand the epidemiology, patogenesis and patogens of UTI and present the clinical course, diagnosis and treatment of the most common inflammatory diseases of the lower urinary tract organs.
