Hypoglycemia in out-of-hospital settings and case-reports
Hypoglycemia as life threatening situation is characterized for family and emergency physicians. Diagnostic pitfalls and diseases often mismatched with hypoglycemia are discussed. Cerebral stroke, epileptic seizure, psychotic disorders and alcoholic intoxication are often causes interchanged with hypoglycemia. If not diagnosed and treated rapidly may lead to death outcome. Increasing amount of diabetic patients will increase hypoglycemic episodes in out-of-hospital settings. Important part of emergency care is differential diagnostic approach and transport to appropriate hospital if necessary. Case reports are presented as well.
