Herpes zoster (shingles) – increasing problem
According to population aging herpes zoster become much more frequent disease diagnosed by general practitioner as a first contact physician. Herpes zoster is a result of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) reactivation with typical skin manifestation and accompanying pain. The trigger of reactivation is usually extreme physical or mental stress, local trauma or immunodeficiency. In patients with severe comorbidities herpes zoster may lead to a possible harmful or fatal complication and adequate and prompt therapy is essential.
