Generic categorization of moist healing wound dressings

Lately, the moist healing technique has become standard therapeutical approach to chronic wounds. Recently, there have not been discovered any new products, thus the production targeted on improving of existing dressings and the marketing started to emphasize the improved product features rather than the product itself. Generic categorization of moist therapy dressings enabling the recognition of proper product indications and the way of use became neglected. This article sorts out the products by basic generic categories, being hydrocolloidal and alginate dressings, semipermeable transparent films, low-adherent and foam dressings.
