Pharmacotherapy of cardiac ischemia
Cardiac ischemia is the most common cause of death in the industrially developed countries. Almost in every case it occurs due to atherosclerosis of coronary arteries. The article focuses on description, therapy and prevention of the two most common forms of cardiac ischemia – angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction. There are used some basic groups of drugs in therapy – nitrates, betablockers, calcium channel blockers, antiaggregation agents, anticoagulant agents and thrombolytic agents.
