Differential diagnosis and treatment of cough for general practitioners
The cough is the most common symptom of respiratory diseases. It follows diseases of infectious, noninfectious, allergic and tumorous causes. It is the reason for exact clinical examination to establish cough etiology. Firstly the therapy of chronic cough is causal, targeted to elimination of disease. The symptomatic treatment relieves cough but it do not heal the cause of disease.
