Nutritional management in patient with type 2 diabetes and obesity

Dietary treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus has many characteristics in common. In order to be considered a treatment method, it must be based on the proven knowledge of clinical studies and addressed to clinical specialists in the field of medical nutrition. There is no universal dietary prescription, but nutritional formulas are recommended in the personalized prescription, according to the patient‘s preferences and comorbidities. Plant-based diets, the Mediterranean diet, low-fat and low-carbohydrate diets, diets with a time-restriction, or a paleo-diet, which still requires monitoring of safety and effectiveness, are used.
