CHRONIC ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE – STABLE ANGINA: CURRENT DIAGNOSTIC AND TREATMENT POSSIBILITIES

Chronic ischaemic heart disease – stable angina pectoris (SAP) is caused by narrowing of coronary arteries due to the process of atherosclerosis. The typical symptom of that process is ischaemia, which manifests itselves by the pain on the chest. We use modern noninvasive and invasive diagnostic methods in detecing SAP. Majority of patients with SAP have good prognosis with very effective today´s pharmacotherapy, that decreased mortality about one third in many groups of used drugs. In the case of uncontroled symptoms despite the full treatment, if coronary anatomy is suitable, percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary arterial bypass graft is indicated.
