PAIN AND NEUROPATHY
Neuropathies are not rare disorders and sometimes are encountered by general practitioners, too. Knowledge of neuropathic symptoms makes clinical diagnosis easy. Neuropathies are at the same time on of the most frequent disorders associated with pain. Pain in neuropathies is pathogenetically neuropathic; in term of duration is mostly chronic. On the basis of current knowledge we can assume that early and adequate treatment of neuropathic pain can influence the pathogenetical mechanisms of its fixation and potentiation. In treatment of neuropathic pain antidepressants, antiepileptics and opiates should be preferred.
