Acute scrotum
Acute scrotum is an emergency that involves several acute diseases affecting the scrotum and/ or intrascrotal organs. Etiopathogenetically is possible to distinguish between ischemic, infectious, traumatic, tumor, but also idiopathic acute illnesses. Diagnosis of acute scrotum requires a thorough medical history, careful clinical, physical, laboratory, and imaging examinations. Ultrasonography of the scrotum with evaluation of intrascrotal content on both sides is mandatory. Fast and accurate differentiation of the initiating condition is a prerequisite for effective management with the minimization of unpleasant complications and sometimes the risk of death.
