HEART RATE AND STABLE CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE – CURRENT DECISIONS

The treatment of chronic stable coronary artery disease is based on pathophysiological principle – disproportion between myocardial oxygen demand and delivery. The oxygen demand could be simply expressed from the clinical point of view as a composition of heart rate and systolic pressure. Heart rate is the target in considering stable coronary artery disease treatment. Regular physical activity, betablockers, some calcium channel blockers and ivabradin are treatment of choice in lowering hear rate.

Keywords: stable angina pectoris, heart rate, cardiovascular risk.
