Main nutritional aspects from the cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation view
In formulating the principles of diet in terms of cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation, the author draws of the Guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) 2016, according to which the main principle is to reduce the content of saturated fatty acids during the day to less than 10% of the total energy income. It also responds to the new situation that arose from the publication of the results of the PURE study in the summer t.y. that excessive reduction in fat and saturated fatty acids aggravates overall mortality. A detailed analysis is currently taking place in the Slovak Republic on an acceptable compromise, the recommended reduction of saturated fatty acids to 10-13% of the total energy income. Provides detailed calculations necessary for the practical application of this general policy. It also analyzes other ESC recommendations regarding the intake of transformes of fatty acids, cholesterol, nuts, minerals and fiber. Finally, he points to the necessary synergy between the application of diet principles and physical training in the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases.
