Treating Venous Ulcers of Upper Leg on basis of Chronic Venous Disease
Chronic venous disease is a serious disease of venous circulation with significant socio-economic impact mainly in its most severe stages (upper leg ulcers). In these stages patients are treated with complex therapy including compression therapy, chirurgical and medication treatment. The target of our study was to monitor the efficacy of sulodexide in standard dosing 2 times 1 pill on treating the patients with upper leg ulcers with possible combination with other medication including compression and local therapy. The study was done on 682 patients with the length of disease of 10.3 months in average. Mainly the area of the ulcer and the toleration of the treatment were studied. The area of the ulcer at the beginning of the study was 2159 mm2 in average, which decreased to 993 mm2 in average after three months of treatment. The dynamics of healing for both genders is statistically important (Kruskal-Wallis test, p < 0.001). Adverse effects were spotted rarely. Only two severe events had relationship with Vessel Due F and they were manifested by skin efflorescence and leaded to drug discontinuation.
