Thrombo-haemorrhagic syndrome in myeloproliferative neoplasias

Ph-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms are associated with increased thrombo-haemorragic risk. Occurrence of arterial thrombosis is dominant. Pathogenesis of their development is multifactorial – quantitative and functional changes of blood elements, activation of endothelial cells, inflammation and JAK2V617F status play the role. Increased age and previous thrombotic complication are confirmed as prognostic risk factors. Leucocytosis and also high allele burden are often associated with higher incidence of thrombotic events. Prevalence and nature of complications observed in our group of 68 patients are comparable to literature data.
