A contribution about a bioptical diagnostics of vascular tumors and a description of uncommon cases with visceral organs involvement
Vascular tumors represent very common and from clinical, morphological and biological aspects extremely heterogeneous group of oncological entities. The vast majority of them are benign tumors derived from the endothelial cells of vascular (hemangiomas) and lymphatic vessels (lymphangiomas). Their malignant forms – angiosarcomas, are diagnosed only sporadically. The most common site of vascular tumors is the skin and soft tissue of the head and neck region. Visceral organs are affected less frequently, however, with more serious impact on patient. The authors of the article briefly present 3 unusual cases of vascular tumors of visceral organs – cystic lymphangiomatosis of the spleen, giant cavernous hemangioma of the liver and epithelioid angiosarcoma of the urinary bladder. They discuss about some aspects of these disease entities from the view of their histopathological diagnostics.
