Vascular risk treatment and blood pressure control in patients with peripheral arterial disease of lower extremity

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) of lower extremity is predominantly a manifestation of atherothrombotic process in which arterial hypertension plays an important role in initiation as well as progression of the disease. Effective blood pressure control and global cardiovascular risk treatment are underestimated in clinical practice despite significantly increased cardio-cerebro-vascular mortality and morbidity in symptomatic and even in asymptomatic PAD patients.
