Interventional radiology options in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma

Hepatocelluar carcinoma (HCC) is the most frequent liver cancer with steeply rising incidence. Recently, minimal invasive radiological procedures have become stable part of treatment protocols. To the minimal invasive interventions belong transarterial chemoembolisation and radioembolisation and local ablation methods based on different physical or chemical principles and are represented by radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, percutaneous ethanol injection and others. Treatment of these patients requires multidisciplinary approach, and these patients should manage in specialized centres.
