Modern treatment of chronic wounds in surgical practice
The treatment of both acute and chronic wounds is an everyday part of the surgeon‘s work. With proper management, diagnosis and adequate treatment, education of the patient and relatives, as well as the appropriate choice of local treatment, wound healing can be significantly accelerated, relieves patient of pain and improves the quality of life of patients and families during treatment. Wound healing is influenced by both general and local factors. The success of the treatment depends on a thorough and good examination of the overall condition of the patient, diagnosis of the root cause of the wound, followed by early causal treatment. Detailed knowledge of the moist therapy products, appropriately chosen wound dressing and treatment of its base prevents the risk of stagnation of healing at a certain stage and transition to chronicity.
