Complications of arterio-venous connections from the view of vascular surgery

Summary: High-quality sewn and sufficiently developed arterial-venous connector, the so-called a-v fistula (AVF), allows shorter dialysis times, is less painful to prick, reduces the number of surgeries and hospitalizations. Allows the patient to be repeatedly fed to a hemodialysis machine. The development and long-term function of the α-v fistula depend on the condition of the patient‘s vessels, on the lumen of the limb arteries and veins, on technical suturing and on its proper postoperative and post-dialysis treatment.
