Classification of vasculitides
Vasculitides represent a heterogenous group of disorders, where inflammation of the vessel wall is the leading feature. Etiology, pathogenesis, type or size of affected vessel, histological type of inflammation and/or clinical manifestation can be used for classification of different forms of vasculitis. Several names and eponyms are used in the literature for the same disease (nosologic unit). The goal of this article is to give a classification of primary and secondary vasculitides. The names and definitions of vasculitides according the Revised International Chapel Hill Consensus Conference Nomenclature of Vasculitides are reported.
