Endovascular treatment in diabetic foot syndrome – the view of a vascular surgeon performing percutaneous intervention
Diabetic foot syndrome is a serious complication of diabetes mellitus. Approximately half of the patients also have peripheral arterial disease, with the crural arteries being predominantly affected. Revascularization plays a key role in the treatment of these cases of diabetic foot syndrome. Endovascular interventions represent a safe alternative of revascularization with results comparable to open vascular surgery techniques.
