Surgical revascularization in patients with diabetic foot
Diabetic foot is serious medical problem. The lower extremity occlusive disease despite advances in treatment remains a major cause of large limb amputation in diabetic patients. Many patients with diabetic foot are undergoing larg limb amputation, especially in stage of critical limb ischemia, even if not all the possibilities for treatment are used. Limb salvage helps to hold the social status of the patient, reduces morbidity and mortality and creates economic benefits for medical services system. Arterial reconstructions in diabetic patients play very important role in the salvation of the lower limb, the most common are distal bypasses (femorocrural and pedal bypasses).
