Abdominal aortic aneurysm with horseshoe kidney
The co-existence of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and horseshoe kidney is a very rare condition, occurring only in 0.12% of patients. The authors report an unusual case of a 75-year-old male patient with an accidentally detected asymptomatic aortic abdominal aneurysm with horseshoe kidney. It was presented as a II. type of anomalies by Eisendrath with one nutritive accessory renal artery. After verification of the arterial supply by CT examination, resection of the aneurysm with an aortobiiliac bypass and reimplantation of the accessory renal artery into the graft body was performed by a transperitoneal approach. Warm ischemia lasted less than 30 minutes. The postoperative course was favourable, renal parameters were normal, the patient was discharged to outpatient care on the seventh day without significant difficulties.
