Acute embolisation of giant splenic artery pseudoaneurysm rupture causing massive hematemesis – case study
Purpose: The incidence of visceral aneurysms is very rare, whereas the occurence of pseudoaneurysms represents much more rarer clinical situations. Splenic artery pseudoaneurysm is most commonly connected with acute or chronic pancreatitis, trauma including iatrogennic causes and it can also arise as the complication of peptic ulcer disease. Bleeding into the gastrointestinal tract is the moct common and most serious comlication of the disease which can lead to haemodynamic instability. Untreated pseudoaneurysm is life-threatening state. Case report: Our case report describes 35-year-old patient with history of repeatedly pancreatitis and gastrointestinal bleeding in whom splenic artery pseudoaneurysm (SAP) was detected. Embolisation of SAP with subsequent exclusion of pseudoaneurysm from circulation represented the fist choice treatment option.
