Extensive retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy with accompanying renal pain as a manifestation of rare „burned-out” germ cell testicular tumor

This report documents the rare case of burned-out germ cell tumor of the left testicle. It also highlights the problem of this rare tumors, when the correct diagnosis is made at the advanced stage of the disease, and the symptoms are often caused by the metastatic process. Burned-out germ cell tumor is defined as the presence of metastasis of germ cell tumor with histological regression of the primary testicular tumor. An important part of the treatment of this patients is removal of the affected testicle because of high percentage of persistence of cancer cells, even after chemotherapy.
