Renal cell carcinoma metastasis to the breast

While breast cancer represents the most common form of malignancy in women, breast metastases associated with extramammary malignancies are very rare. Metastatic breast tumors account for less than 1 % of all breast malignancies, with the majority originating in the contralateral breast. Although the renal cell carcinoma is the most common form of cancer of the urogenital tract, only a few cases of breast metastases have been described. We present a case report of a woman with synchronous metastasis in the breast in 2016. 6 years after nephrectomy was developed metachronic metastasis in the same breast. The patient is free of metastases apart from non-specific lung nodules and metastatic involvement of the 7th rib on the right. The aim is to raise awareness of breast metastases originating from extramammary malignancies and to emphasize the advantages of imaging methods such as mammography and ultrasonography in the diagnosis of breast lesions.
