Complications of BCG intravesical therapy – BCGitis
Bacillus Calmette – Guerine intravesical therapy has become a standard treatment of high grade non-muscle invasive blader cancer (Ta, T1) and cancer in situ (CIS) in clinical practice. Good clinical outcomes are associated with possible side effects. Serious side effects are relatively rare. BCG vaccine is a safety method, when correct application and contraindication are observed. The article presents case report of 73 years old man with complicated intravesical BCG vaccine therapy – BCGitis. Goal of the article is to summarise posibble BGG complications and their management, incluiding the most serious cases.
