Combined bladder-saving procedures in the treatment of locally advanced urothelial tumors

Radical cystectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy is the basic curative treatment for patients with advanced urothelial urinary bladder carcinoma. However, surgical treatment is quite often unfeasible from technical or other reasons or there is a patient wish to maintain his quality of life by urinary bladder sparing. Oncological treatment in the form of platinum-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy is associated with a high number of treatment responses, complete remision incl. and with an overall survival improvement, moreover, there is higher probability of bladder sparing surgery.
