MRI targeted biopsy of the prostate – 2nd part: fusion techniques

Prostate carcinoma is one of few malignant tumors being difficult to be diagnosed by conventional imaging methods. On ultrasonography that is normally used in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, typical hypoechogenic lesion is visible in only 30 %, which results in low TRUS sensitivity. In recent years,MRI and especially multi-parametric analysis appears to be promising solution. MRI visualised lesion is biopted either in real-time using in-bore technique or by selected fusion technique.
