Prostate abscess

The article presents a case of a patient with prostate abscess, an often neglected and late- diagnosed atypical complication of bacterial prostatitis. In our case, the diagnosis was made by means of a CT scan with a contrast agent which elucidated the location and size of an abscess in the small pelvis. Subsequently, transrectal drainage was performed as one of the possible methods of surgical management. This resulted in a rapid resolution of complaints with a very early absence of symptoms.
