Importance of cooperation between surgeon and interventional radiologist in the management of haematologically compromised, co-morbid and acute bleeding patients

Internal bleeding belongs to serious incidents of the patients that have to be urgently diagnosed and proper medical treatment received. At the 2nd Surgical clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of the Commenius University and the University hospital Bratislava to identify the source of bleeding and its subsequent treatment the cooperation of the surgeon, gastroenterologist, radiologist and intervention radiologist is applied. The introduction of the work is focused on the definition, division and content of the field of the intervention radiology. The work present case reports of two acutely bleeding, haematology compromised and comorbid patients hospitalized in emergency at department of surgery. These patients were treated in cooperation with the Radiology clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of the Commenius University and University Hospital and Slovak medical university. In summary the authors want to underline that the cooperation of the surgeon, gastroenterologist and intervention radiologist has significant added value for the medical treatment of acutely bleeding patient.
