The use of stem bone marrow cells in healing of chronic skin wounds
Article is directed at investigation of efficacy and safety of autologous transplantation of bone marrow - cells in improvement of wounds healing. The aim of the experiments of this new treatment method is to determinate the ability of migration of stem cells, implantation into wound bed, differentiation and stimulation of healing process. Stem cells offer the possibility that some structures within the wound may be reconstituted, because they are responsible for the homing of stem cells and their differentiation into specific tissue-related cells. Not all of the studies of aplicated bone marrow cells in patients archieved so optimistic results. It is not known whether these new skin cells regenerated by stem cells are functional. Instability of cellular phenotypes may lead to the deterioration of the structure and/or function of tissues, and may eventually give rise to malignant cells. Aplication of stem cells makes clinical status worse according to some authors. Despite of these results in experimental level it was noticed the huge reply the use of stem cells in healing of chronic wounds in the clinical field.
