Volvulus colon sigmoideum of the patient with m. Parkinson‘s disease and chronic obstipation resolved by resection with primary anastomosis - case report
Acute sigmoid volvulus is in our region typical diagnosis for elderly patients with neuropsychiatric comorbidities. The aim of diagnostic algorithm is not only determination of sigmoid volvulus, but also specification of irreversible ischemic injury of strangled colonic tissue, on which depends the treatment of current state. The scale of potential treatment varies from endoscopic derotation to emergent laparotomy with subtotal colectomy. In our case report we describe acute sigmoid volvulus of 81-years old patient with Parkinsonic disease, treated by sigmoid colectomy with primary end to end anastomosis, with feasible effect on current clinical state.
