Internal hernias – overview and case reports

The authors present the issue of internal hernias and 3 consecutive case reports of patients hospitalized recently at their clinic, in whom acute surgical interventions for this disease were necessary. These were elderly patients, acutely admitted to II. surgical clinic LFUK and UNB hospital st. Cyril and Methodius with abdominal pain, flatus and stool disturbances, accompanied by vomiting, and clinical signs of acute abdomen (AA). After the completion of imaging examinations, a suspicion of an ileus was expressed, and after the necessary preparation, the patients underwent urgent surgery. Internal hernia was confirmed during surgery in all three patients. In one of them, resection with restoration of continuity by entero-entero anastomosis was necessary for necrosis of the incarcerated intestinal segment.
