Injuries of first metacarpal bone area are relatively often seen in traumatology
Considering the traumatic mechanism, type of injury and evolution of osteosynthetic materials, now a days the options in treatment and osteosynthetic fixation are quite good raging from conventional plaster-castimmobilization to usage of modern titanium or non-titanium materials. Objective of this case report is presentation of the possibility of using external fixation in connection with trapezium bone in treatment of open fracture of the basis of first metacarpal bone with the surrounding soft tissues being oedematous with numerous excoriations after the injury.
