Colonic lipoma mimics inflammatory acute abdomen

Benign tumors of large bowel are relatively common in current population. The management of this diagnose is usually handled by gastroenterologists. Surgical intervention is suitable in cases of inapplicability of endoscopic treatment, occurrence of complications related to this treatment, or in cases of tumor progression. The publications from our colleague surgeons mostly confronted us with cases of intussusception or hemorrhage. In this paper, we present a specific case report with an uncommon clinical course in a patient with giant submucosal lipoma of coecum.

Keywords: colonic lipoma, acute abdomen, inflammatory reaction, resection radicality.
