Treatment management of patients with acute diverticulitis from the viewpoint of our clinic

The prevalence of diverticulosis and its complications including acute diverticulitis is increasing worldwide and is inflicting a burden on worldwide healthcare systems as a result. Uncomplicated form of acute diverticulitis is managed by gastroenterologist and outpatient treatment whenever possible. Complicated forms of acute diverticulitis requires multidisciplinary approach of a surgeon, a gastroenterologist, a radiologist and an interventional radiologist. In the past years there has been a tendency towards a more conservative treatment of not only uncomplicated diverticulitis but also of its complicated types. In this article we present the management of a patient with complicated acute diverticulitis at our clinic.
