Management of acute cholecystitis − the newest guidelines and their aplication in daily practise

Despite being a common disease, there have been significant controversies regarding the diagnosis and management of acute cholecystitis. Therefore guidelines as Tokyo guidelines, World Society of Emergency Surgery guidelines an others were created to provide a quick ad ease − to use tool or physician treating acute cholecystitis. Combination of detailed history, complet clinical evaluation, laboratory tests and imaning investigations i sused in diagnosis of the disease.There is a concensus that laparoscopic cholecystectomy is recommended as the treatment of choice and should be performed immediate ater diagnosis independent of the onset of symptoms. Surgery is the treatment of choice for acute cholecystitis also in elderly pacients with severe comorbidities.
