Treatment algorithm for proximal femur fractures
Treatment of fractures of the proximal femur is currently one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures at workplaces which also perform traumatology of the locomotive apparatus. From the perspective of the possible consequences, these osteoporotic fractures represent an ever greater problem not only for health, but also for society as a whole. According to the development of the population curve as the geriatric population grows, not only fractures but also their complications with a negative impact not only for the patient but also for the surgeon are increasing. By choosing the right surgical technique, it is possible to reduce the occurrence of complications that can lead to reduced mobility and permanent immobilization. The optimal treatment outcome requires a multidisciplinary orthopedic approach or traumatologist, anesthesiologist, psychiatrist, physiotherapist and geriatrician. The treatment of proximal femur fractures also includes the prevention of osteoporotic fractures with the detection of osteoporosis, including health programs designed to reduce the risk of subsequent fractures.
