Critical rectosigmoid stenosis as a consequence of endometriosis, case report

Endometriosis is chronic inflammatory disease defined as the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. This tissue can infiltrate the muscularis propria of the organs that surround the uterus, for example, the bladder, intestine, and ureter. Medical treatment is the first-line therapeutic option of endometriosis, surgical management is employed as the treatment of last resort, after failure of others therapies. The authors present the case of a 38-year old female patient with endometriosis of the right ovary and rectosigmoid, hospitalized for a subileus condition. First, the patient underwent a laparoscopic left – side cystectomy for a CT finding of the left ovarian cyst, which was considered to be the cause of the subileosus condition. Finally was performed operation sec. Dixon with sigmo – rectoanastomosis and left – side adnexectomy with partial right –side ovarectomy, in cooperation with the surgeon and a gynecologist.
