Is there a need for repeated CT examination at blunt abdominal injury?
Traumatic injuries to the intestines and mesentery are associated with high mortality ratio and numerous complications. There is still no unequivocal consensus regarding the optimal management and diagnosis of these injuries, therefore the decision on operative or non-operative treatment in a hemodynamically stable patient is extremely difficult. Repeated CT examination of the abdomen has often been criticized for high radiation exposure, potential kidney damage and low detection rate, but repeated CT examination of the abdomen in blunt high-energy injury in a patient with unclear clinical symptomatology can lead to early diagnosis of these rare injuries.
