Stomach gists in our repertoire of patients

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are mesenchymal GIT (gastrointestinal tract) tumors, which arise by malignant transformation of Cajal interstitial cells precursors. Most often they occur in the stomach (60%), the small intestine (25 - 30%), the colon (10%), the rectum (1.5%). The rarity is in the mesentery. The incidence is 20 / 1 million inhabitants, but it is higher in the autopsy - up to 2 cases per 1,000 autopsied patients. GIST occurs equally in both sexes, and the incidence is increasing at the age of 50 years. The authors present their experiences with the diagnosis and treatment of gastric GIST diseases of two patients in the recent period.
